A whimsical five storey tall rubber duck moored at Darling Harbour during Sydney Festival is the creation of artist Florentijn Hofman
If I had a month of Sundays to spare, I'd most certainly spend more time in Sydney, investigating all that this vibrant Australian city offers in terms of food, curiosities, scenery and people.
I'm sharing with you a few postcards and morsels from our recent visit to Sydney and surrounding region. Enjoy.
Food...
Morsels from just some of our food adventures: Red Lily Bar tucked away in the rear of Red Lantern on Riley, superb banana and blueberry cake at Palms Cafe Stanwell Park, Harry's Cafe Sydney, King prawns wrapped in kataifi pastry with lemon & dill aioli at Georges, soft shell crab at Zushi in Surry Hills, and seafood basket at Bombora at Wollongong (note, we did eat plenty of salads too!)
Curiosities...
I'm always on the lookout to take snapshots of things of beauty and curiosity: Chinese garden of friendship at Darling Harbour, Flower statue Chinatown, frangipani flowers, old wheel at Robertson, Surry Hills terraces, milk urn and suitcase on rooftop, door leading to nowhere in Surry Hills laneway, The Hobbit at IMAX, corrugated wall and vintage bath at Robertson, and vintage door handle in Leichardt
Markets...
Vistas from the lively and colourful markets held on weekends at the Bondi Beach Public School
Fame...
Mingling with the stars at Madam Tussauds, Darling Harbour
Scenery...
Rubber duck, lighthouse at Wollongong, seagull surveying the surf, and sculpture by Didio Balez overlooking the ocean, in honour of staunch Illawarra region community activist, Michael Dwyer
