Chinese-Malaysian born Perth food blogger, The Food Pornographer (TFP), posted an interesting article once about her first experience with a hot BBQ roast chicken and suggested various tasty ways to serve it. Reading TFP’s story brought back memories and inspired me to share my musings on the subject.

My friend Martyna The Wholesome Cook, reminded me via a Twitter message that today is 'Meatless Monday'.
“ON market days the squares are piled high with garlic and onions and every sort of vegetable and fruit. The people shout, throw things, scuffle, laugh and sing all day long.” — literary genius J.W. Goethe, Italian Journey (1786-88).
Sometimes on a cold Saturday night you just want to stay in, watch a movie and eat a simple, home-cooked meal that wraps itself around you like a warm woollen throw.
MY FAVOURITE POSTCARD depicts Canberra during the depths of winter — completely surrounded by the snow-dusted peaks of the Brindabellas. Seeing that image on my way to the produce markets on recent weekends has made me glad to know that winter is really upon us. To my culinary mind, the cold snap means it’s time to get down to some serious cooking!
When I was a little girl, my mother (a beautiful cook in her own right) always took me to cake shops as a treat at the end of our shopping expeditions. Together we adored sampling freshly-made millefeuille, vanilla slice, strudel and chocolate eclairs. Another of our favourites was the simple, but delicious, apple slice.
