It was pumpkins galore, a petting zoo, poffertjes. puppies, and plenty of preserves at the tenth annual Collector Village Pumpkin Festival today. Highlights of this year's event along with more than 80 stalls, farm machinery displays and the twang of a country duo on stage, included the heaviest pumpkin (weighing in at more than 248kg!), the best pumpkin pie, the best pumpkin scones, the best pumpkin scarecrow, the best pumpkin costume and the best gourmet pumpkin dish. A visit to the little town of Collector has become an annual pilgrimage for many, but for me it was my first time at the Pumpkin Festival (I know, what the heck took me so long!?). For more information and a view of a GIANT pumpkin, visit the web site. Pumpkins galore, a petting zoo, poffertjes, puppies and plenty of preserves...Tell me, how did you spend your Sunday? Is there a Pumpkin Festival in your region?

I think there was one that was heavier, Lisa, but there was a kiddie sitting on it when I was taking photos! ; ) I spent my day sewing for a dance show. Actually I was altering costumes for my granddaughter. Lizzi we haven't even planted our pumpkins yet. It's spring time in British Columbia. One of my dear friends is an Aussie, in fact she is down and under at the moment visiting her family.

Oh, me too, Maureen, me too! 7/5/2013 12:22:30 am
That pumpkin festival looks awesome. Those pumpkin scarecrows are so creative! We used to go to fabulous ones when we lived in Michigan and New York. The huge hay mazes were so much fun. What a perfect autumn day!

Huge hay mazes, now that sounds awesome, Sarah. This was a fun and perfect Autumn day, made all the better in that with my Peter away, I spent the day with my beautiful daughter and her beau. ; ) 7/5/2013 11:18:16 pm

Darn, sorry you missed it love. I did tweet about it, but missed popping it onto the events page as I've been off colour as you know. Yes, I do have an events page... http://www.bizzylizzysgoodthings.com/events.html 10/5/2013 01:54:18 am

Hi there, thanks so much.... it was a perfect Autumn day ; ) I'm glad you published this little vignette. I was in Canberra a few months ago and told my friends about the Colector Pumpin Festival - they'd never heard of it. I'm from Qld and I had! I haven't been but maybe one day... The photo of the scarecrow bending over with pumpkins for his bum is hilarious. Good job Liz!
