Mushrooms

Picture
Exotic mushroom assortment from Li Sun Mushrooms
Mushrooms go into the market basket all year round and there is a brilliant assortment available from Dr Noel Arrold at his Li Sun stall at the Capital Region Farmer's Market every weekend. Mushrooms at the ready, some thin slices of beef eye fillet, garlic, Buderim Ginger baby stem ginger, Sesame Oil, light Tamari Sauce and some of our home grown broccolini, I prepared a quick, delicious and nutritious wok tossed meal. No recipe is needed for this one, just fresh ingredients and a searing hot wok.
Watch this space for more on Dr Noel Arnold and his wonderful Li Sun mushrooms, and mushrooms generally,  in a future Good Things post.

Thanks Leaf! I love to get 'the breath of the wok' happening, which is something Elizabeth Chong taught me. What's your favourite mushroom?

Nothing beats a simple meal like this - and mushrooms, Asian or otherwise, and beef are a marriage made in heaven!

PS In Sydney we have a chap who delivers fresh exotic mushrooms to local markets around Double Bay and Moore Park. He is the one I got the gorgeous chanterelles from!

Dear Lizzy,

Fabulous idea. I often stir-fry in a smoking hot wok with all the beautiful mushroom that we can get. Most important ingredient is a go splash of Shao Xing wine. The flavours and textures are amazing. Another one that I would add here is beautiful enoki.
