A visit to Kerry and Stephen Eastlake's park-like Wombat Heights cherry farm is on our list of things to do this Summer. Peter and I had the pleasure of meeting the Eastlakes and sampling their Grog Shed goodies at the Hall Markets this afternoon. You can pick your own cherries at their cherry farm from mid November to December; peaches in the first two weeks of January; and sugar plums at the end of January into February. If you'd like to learn about life on a cherry orchard and the making of cherry wine and jam, there are tours all year round.
Kerry and Stephen's limoncello was so delicious, we couldn't resist buying a bottle and their walnut rum liqueur had a lovely walnut flavour. I'm looking forward to tasting some of Kerry's jam (she's a great cook from the sounds of things).
Farmers and growers, artisan producers, and wonderful providores.
