You can tell just by looking at this photo that Kim De Poorter is quite a character and a talented chef at that!
The Korean-born, Belgian raised chef completed his apprenticeship in a two star Michelin restaurant in Belgium, before the travel bug took hold and he ended up at The French Kitchen in Canberra.
Kim cooks crêpes at his Crêperie stall at the Capital Region Farmer's Markets every Saturday; and at the Southside Farmer's Markets on Sundays.
He is passionate about charcuterie and so makes and sells a range of fine Terrines and Pâtes, under that business name.
Products include Rillettes, free range Pate, Terrine and Confit. Kim is also an agent for Gympie Farm Cheese and Butter.
I asked Kim to flip a pancake for me... he did it several times! He is almost as good at it as my Mother, who was a champion pancake flipper.
Jane Sherborne-Higgins and husband, Harold Higgins from Goulburn Garlic had sold out of their beautiful garlic braids by the time we arrived at the Capital Region Farmer's Market this morning.
No wonder, their biodynamic garlic is OGA certified 'in conversion' and was perfectly plump and fresh.
Jane and Harold currently grow three varieties of garlic, as well as rhubarb on their biodynamic farm just outside of Goulburn in New South Wales. You will find them at the Capital Region Farmer's Markets every Saturday morning and also at the new Concorde Farmer's Markets from February 2012.
Farmers and growers, artisan producers, and wonderful providores.
