Home, Leisure, Caravan, 4WD and Camping Show
This weekend, Canberra's largest Home and Leisure Show features cutting edge innovations for home, leisure, outdoors, travel and gardening. There are more than 300 exhibitors, displaying and demonstrating the very latest technology, with a focus on home products.

As my postcards from the 2013 event show, there's something for everyone! Highlights include:

  • More than $18,000 in prizes to be won, including outdoor furniture, 4WD accessories, holidays, garden tools and a camping package;
  • Gunningbar Yurtworks make their debut, showcasing their range of beautifully designed and versatile yurts
  • Graham Ross from Better Homes and Gardens will be presenting his informative gardening seminars over all three days;
  • The 4WD track returns for another year, providing tips for the most extreme off road drivers;
  • Chef Marco returns to the Cooking Stage in the Budawang Pavilion where he demonstrates how to cook up a storm, and shares his gourmet recipes for everyone to create at home;
  • The fantastic fishing demonstrations by Dave ‘Mossy’ Moss are back, with more beaut tips and tricks on how to catch those wily barramundi.

I remember yurts from way back in the 60s! Didn't know they were still around. Although camping, etc isn't really my thing. Sounds like a fun show, though. I always enjoy looking at gear. :-)

Hi John, mine neither, but there's so much more at this show! Love it! Yurts are fun, aren't they! : )

I do love these sorts of events and like you say, there's definitely something for everyone. I've been to these shows before and usually make a full day of it xx

Hmm: the more I read your blog and other newsy bits from Canberra the more I give credit to it being the 'most liveable city in Australia' [or was that the world :) ?]. Here again is an event I would love to have attended - well basically to peek into each caravan and try to get an one-to-one with Graham Ross. What happened to the days when Canberra was meant to be too hot in summer and too cold in winter and full of flies and boredom ?!! The last two certainly seem to have flown away in tandem . . . Have to make a list next year . . .

Well Eha, my friend, you could have held Peter's hand and accompanied him into every single caravan for a bo peep.... that to me is so boring, as we have no plans to ever, ever buy one. LOL! Yes, this is a great show, however, thankfully there is so much more to it! : )

[big impish smile] . . . Liz, if my circumstances were different I would adore becoming a Grey Nomad, buying a motorhome [rather than a caravan actually!] and, free as a bird, going just where my mood and the weather dictated. A dear girlfriend did just that with the new guy in her life and had the happiest ten years of that life ere she was called away . . . !!!

Three of our friends (all retired) have caravans and they have the best time being grey nomads. I wouldn't mind having a caravan if there was a nice place to keep it stored. I wouldn't want it sitting in my driveway. :)
