Australians know how to celebrate around food and wine, particularly as we are blessed with some of the finest produce in the world. Throughout the year, there are food and wine events held in cities and towns across Australia — some are more low key than others, but all capture the spirit of indulgence in good things food and wine. In fact, there are so many events that it's almost impossible to list them individually here, so I'm showcasing just a few for your information. There are several major events, such as Tasting Australia in Adelaide, and the New South Wales food and wine festival held across NSW and the ACT. In Western Australia, Perth hosts the Good Food and Wine Show. The Noosa International Food & Wine Festival is a highlight of the Queensland calendar. Food and wine enthusiasts look forward to the annual Taste of Tasmania. And the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is just one of close to 100 or more events held in Victoria.
Among others, there's an Oyster Festival, a Potato Festival, a Tomato Festival, Orange FOOD week, Festival of the Sausage, and Cherry Festival; as well as a Seafood FEASTival on Kangaroo Island. In my home town of Canberra and its surrounds, there's the National Multicultural Festival (per my image above), the Truffle Festival, the Summerside Festival; the Fireside Festival; and Wine, Roses and all that Jazz festival, to name just a few. I think I would go to the truffle festival, even if I could not afford the truffles!

What a glorious evolution for us from the time wine was called 'plonk' and one basically had plain steak, chops or sausages with chips or mash :) ! Oh a salad had a couple of lettuce leaves and a few slices of tomato and cucumber with some boiled egg, cooked chicken or silverside! And going to the local Chinese [if you were lucky to have one in the neighbourhood] was a strange and 'daring' adventure!!! Being older than you I smile and remember and am so happy for all the wondrous changes :) !

We have the Real Food Festival in Maleny and the Good Food and Wine in Brisbane as well as the big Noosa show but nothing like Amanda gets in South Australia. I'd go to a show every weekend if I could.

National Multicultural Festival - Best public event on the Canberra calendar I reckon. Truffle fest is pretty fabulous too. :) Actually, I wouldn't say no to any food & wine event, can find something great about all of them. Ha! PS: Langos.... Mmmmm!
