Postcards and morsels from Kiama - are you being served?

Pelican at the harbour in Kiama NSW Australia by Liz Posmyk Good Things
During a short break last week at Kiama in New South Wales, Peter and I were fortunate enough to meet this charming pelican who, like us, had called into the local fish and chip shop for a feast.

Apparently she is a regular visitor at Hunky Dory's cafe...  and a very polite one, too. While humans can become irate, in a 'look at moi, look at moi' manner, this lady waited quietly...  I half expected her to tap on the counter, but she didn't.

The pelican's patience paid off, because the store owner soon came out with some morsels of fresh fish... enough for her and a few more feathered friends.

And the pelicans are fed fresh fish

Peter's elderly mama is visiting for a few days, so I'll be back soon with delicious new recipes, postcards and morsels from around the world, and plenty of other good things. Stay tuned, please.

Tell me dear readers, have you seen anything that made you smile this week? Do please share your stories. I'd love to hear from you!

That certainly is a polite pelican! Sea gulls should take note. :-)

Oh lots of things have made me smile, but your post more than most :) ! Sugar, are there no pelican schools in the vicinity to teach the said beautiful species how to catch their own food and not depend on takeaways !!!! Where was this one's mama ?

What lovely photos Liz. I have only visited Kiama once. Though I loved it, it poured nearly the whole time! We'll be back though.

I've never seen a pelican up close like that before, thank you. She is a beauty. How nice that the fish & chip owner gives her food.
